Writer's Block: It worked for Norma Jeane

Norma Jeane Mortenson will always be remembered by her screen name, Marilyn Monroe. What stage name would you choose if you were an entertainer, and why?

When I was a kid, we had a game to determine our stage names by taking the name of a childhood pet and the name of the street on which we grew up and put the two together.  Mine would be Cocoa Brooks.  Rather catchy, in my opinion.

Then again, if you look at silver screen stars, maybe a name with a bit of alliteration would be best.  Marilyn Monroe, Claudette Colbert (my favorite!)...  In that case, I'd choose a different pet and go with Brandy Brooks.  Ooooh, I almost like that better!

My late fiance's would have been Hunter Grey.  How manly is that?!  It sounds like a burly, sexy, rugged man.  Yum!

This is just too much fun!  Anyone else have a good name that comes from this game?

What is your favorite cult film, and why?

"Blues Brothers", for sure!  "We're on a mission from God."

This film just entertains me to no end.  Dan Akroyd and John Belushi were a fantastic comedy duo.  It kills me every time I see the part where they are in the country bar singing "Rawhide".  Classic comedy right there!  Crap, now I want to leave work and watch that movie!

Blah blah blah!

April biscornu... at last!

Yep, it took a little more time than I anticipated, but I've finally finished April's submission for my Basket of Biscornu!

So pretty!  This actually came from Chatelaine Designs, which has some gorgeous pieces.  Several of their free patterns look like great biscornu pieces.  I really liked this one's beads and other details, and I love how it all pops against the black.  Stunning!

And now to come up with something for May...  No idea what it will be.  I've got the perfect piece selected for June as my final biscornu, but I'm stumped as to what to do for May.  I've got some gorgeous over-dyed silks that I picked up on last year's Shop Hop, so maybe I can come up with something for one of those.

Side note: One of the shops near me has closed.  The owner is moving to California.  I wish her all the best in her future endeavors!  Sadly, that's one less stop on this year's Shop Hop.  :(

Would you look at that... It's done on time!

Yes, that's right, I finally got back to getting my biscornu for the Basket of Biscornu done within the month it's meant for!  Of course, this is a tiny one, and if I hadn't finished it on time I'd wonder what the heck was wrong with me.  But it's finished none the less!

And now, to figure out what to do for April...  Only three more left!

She's eight years old!

Today is my sweet Molly Brown Sugar's birthday!  She's eight years old, but she doesn't act a day over two.

This photo is from when we first got her almost three years ago.  She still looks and acts exactly as she did then.  I'd forgotten that my sister's girlfriend had painted her toenails before bringing her to us; I thought that was so funny!  Then I realized some people do that all the time to their dogs.  Odd.  O_o

This is one of my favorite photos of her with James.  She took to him the second she came in our door and was in love with him until he had to leave us.  She's doing better now that it's been so long since he passed, but she still comes to the door sometimes when I come home and looks past me expecting him to come in behind me.  I wish could explain things to her somehow, but I've done my best to show her all the extra love I can.

Gosh, I really need to upload some newer photos to Photobucket.  These are old!

Happy Birthday, my sweet little doggy!

I finished this last night and am just lovin' how cute it turned out!

I can't wait to see it hanging in Logynn's room!  My sister did his room in a safari theme and he just loves his toy monkeys.  I hope he'll like this for many years.  And it's only 7 months late... not too shabby!

I think I am in love with this music video:

There's something about Brendon Urie in steampunk that just keeps my attention riveted.  XD

Just finished my January biscornu!  A lovely pattern from Papillon Creations called "Moonlight Serenade".

I love everything to do with the moonlight and how it shines on the earth at night, so I chose some lovely blues that reflect those colors.  Also, though you can't see it, the fabric has some lovely shiny threads running through it that remind me of the sheen of the moon.  It's very pretty!

Here's the back:

And now, on to February!
